School Philosophy
At Kirkness School we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to develop intellectually, socially, emotionally, physically and creatively as unique individuals. We believe the school should be a safe place where caring and compassionate adults and students work together to develop a sense of social responsibility and good citizenship while respecting individual differences and beliefs. We support the varying abilities of students. Maximum achievement is attainable in a stimulating atmosphere where students are actively and meaningfully involved; a partnership of learning is valued between students, staff and community; everyone is a teacher and a learner; individuals are empowered to become responsible, independent decision-makers; and it is everyone's responsibility to promote public education.
